Whoa, long time.

Time sure flies.  I can't believe that it's been a few weeks since I've written.

I've encountered several conversations this week regarding ionic footh baths.  I saw one at Rising Lotus Wellness Center here in Casper.  I was intrigued with the process then and now I'm even more intrigued.

My science teachings tell me that the process is impossible.  Yet, when you think of the body sweating...moisture escapes from the body...then why can't things enter the body.

I've encoutered too many things in my life to believe everything I was taught in science classes to be the gospel.  I believe in meridians.  Hard core science doesn't go there.  I believe in a lot of things that hard core science doesn't believe in.

I'm contemplating purchasing one of these home ionic baths and try it out.  I read in one article that it's suppose to help with weight loss.  I have the perfect guinea pig to try that out on, along with being on the Ideal Protein diet.  I'm also going to try this out on my mother who has arthritis really bad.  Supplements have helped her, but I'm interested in seeing whether ionic foot baths will help also.

If anyone has any opinions, good or bad, on ionic foot baths, please let me now.

Our Future

It's nice to see our First Lady, Michelle Obama, taking up the cause of Child Obesity.  This is a cause we haven't seen come out of the White House before.

Tackling the issue of Child Obesity will actually tackle several childhood issues.  The issue addresses obese childrens' physical health, emotional health, mental and intellectual health, and social health and well being.  All of those issues are so important for all children, especially obese children, and for the future of our country and society.

The self-esteem of obese children is usually very low.  Self-esteem will hinder or flourish a person's over-all well being.

More and more scientific and medical information is being published about childhood obesity and the consequences of obesity...childhood and adult obesity.  We're finding out that genes are playing a bigger part than we thought.  We're also finding out that what happens with a child before three years of age will indicate whether the child will become obese.

The one thing that frightens me the most is the impact of being over-weight or being obese has on children is the reduced intellectual capacity they have.  No one deserves to be robbed of any mental functioning.  Four percent is robbed from over-weight children and eight percent is robbed of obese children.  It breaks my heart that these children are losing out on a precious gift.  Education and knowledge is THE ONLY THING that no one can take a way from a person.  As a former Special Education teacher, my heart strings are pulled to the floor by those statistics.

If every person does just a little bit to combat child obesity, it will improve the lives of our future...our children, obese or not.  We need to give our children the best possible opportunity there is to become the best they can be, obese or not.

Kudos to Michelle Obama for taking on such an important cause that will eventually effect and affect all of us and society.
